After teaching in Pender County Public Schools and Wake County Public Schools, Dr. Nesheim pursued her Ph.D. at N.C. State University. Upon completion of her program, she continued teaching for the College of Education while mentoring preservice teachers in the field. Dr. Nesheim eagerly joined the Saint Raphael family in 2016 and has loved it from the start!

Mr. Dapolito began teaching social studies at Saint Raphael in 2011 and was confirmed at Saint Raphael in 2014. He served as athletic director from 2012-2014 and has been the Dean of Students since 2015. Mr. Dapolito has coached lacrosse, basketball, and volleyball during his time at Saint Raphael and currently teaches 7th and 8th grade social studies.

Mrs. Boretti worked in corporate accounting for 8 years with US Foodservice, one of the United States leading foodservice distributors. While taking time to raise her three girls, she volunteered at her children’s school and family parish, Saint Catherine of Siena (Reading, PA). and returned to the accounting field in 2013, working for The Berkshire Country Club. In June 2015, Mrs. Boretti and her family moved to Raleigh to support her husband’s work transfer. She and her family are currently parishioners at Saint Raphael Catholic Church.

Since receiving her masters, Mrs. Gerko has worked with children and families as a program coordinator in an adoption agency in Pittsburgh, a school-based counselor in the Cleveland, Ohio public school system, a foster care supervisor in Ohio and California, and a medical social worker in California and North Carolina. Mrs. Gerko has been at Saint Raphael Catholic School since 2016.

In June 2013, Mrs. Guarente and her family moved to Raleigh from the Washington, D.C. area.

Mrs. Stevens began teaching for the Diocese of Raleigh in 2007 and started teaching Saint Raphael Catholic School in 2010. Prior to becoming a teacher, she worked for Xerox Corporation for 10 years in various technology and management positions and was also a software trainer for Gateway Corporation. Mrs. Stevens made the switch to education in 2005 when she took a job on the technology team with the Chappaqua School District in Chappaqua, NY. In 2006, her family moved to Raleigh where she taught for four years at Saint Catherine of Siena in Wake Forest before coming to SRCS.

Mrs. Drescher was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, and loves all things "Buffalo" including wings and the Bills. Before directing the after school program, she worked in interior design, which is why she loves to decorate her rooms. In after school, she gets to really know the children because she often has them from kindergarten to eigeighth grade. Several of the children she has taken care of have come back to work for her. Mrs. Drescher has three daughters and five grandchildren.

Ms. Pallini grew up in Upstate New York and moved to Cary, North Carolina in 2001. When she started her college education, she was on the path to become a pharmacist. After working in a pharmacy and traveling to train other employees, she quickly realized that God had a different plan; she was meant to teach. She took classes while working full-time in the pharmacy to obtain her degree in elementary education. Ms. Pallini joined the SRCS faculty in 2013. She taught first grade for 4 years before becoming a kindergarten teacher. She loves teaching in KA!

Mrs. Gaukel loves children! She is a mother of four young souls and has been teaching at Saint Raphael Catholic School since 2007. She has taught third grade and now is a second grade teacher. Before moving to Raleigh, she was a youth minister at Christ the King Parish in Wisconsin working with middle and high school students and considers it an honor to be a positive, Catholic influence on our next generation. Growing up, she attended Catholic schools all of her life. Realizing that Catholic education was her calling, she later did extensive post-baccalaureate work at Edgewood College (also a Catholic institution) to earn numerous teaching certifications that enable to teach elementary education as well as middle mchool education in the subjects of math, science, language arts, and social studies in both Wisconsin and North Carolina.

Ms. von Lehmden was born and raised in Greenville. She received a Catholic education from kindergarten through eighth grade, to which she attributes her love for education and her Catholic faith. Her faith continued to develop as she became an active member in the Saint Peter's Life Teen high school youth group. Upon graduating high school, she excitedly pursued her love for education at North Carolina State University. Her elementary education degree has a concentration in STEM and she enjoys using STEM concepts to excite her students through hands-on learning in the classroom. During her time at NCSU, Ms. von Lehmden studied abroad in Guatemala, where she lived in a poverty-stricken town around Lake Atitlan, and taught English in the local elementary school. She was eager to join the Saint Raphael family since her grandparents became parishioners in 1967 and she has two cousins who are SRCS graduates. Ms. von Lehmden has taught 2nd grade at SRCS since 2017.

Having lived in North Carolina for 32 years, Mrs. Colopy feels like a native, she loves the beaches and the mountains. During the summer of 2017 she and her husband moved to Youngsville into the house they spent one year building. Now there is a real hands-on learning experience for this seasoned teacher. Attending college in Ohio, she taught in Ohio, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Mrs. Colopy was the 2008 recipient of the Diocese of Raleigh Lewis Award which recognizes excellence in teaching. Mrs. Colopy was trained in Wilson Reading and taught at All Saints Academy for a year. She has been trained in Direct Instruction and worked at Youngsville Academy. For the last three years she has tutored after school for The Hill Center of Durham using programs based on Orton-Gillingham instruction. Last year, Mrs. Colopy became qualified to administer the Gesell Developmental Assessment for SRCS. Mrs. Colopy is excited to be at St. Raphael helping teacher’s help their students be successful as a resource teacher.

Mrs. Woods has served as a teaching assistant in kindergarten at Saint Raphael Since 2012. She previously worked both at the Saint Raphael Preschool with the lunch bunch and the Saint Raphael After School program for 3 years responsible for K-3 age group. Prior to these official capacities, Mrs. Woods spent a significant amount of time volunteering at SRCS during her off time from managing a local children’s clothing store. She has spent most of her adult life working with children in one capacity or another. Mrs. Woods and her family are members at Saint Raphael Catholic Church and her daughter is an alumna, SRCS class of 2016.

Mrs. Gasper started her teaching career in 1989 for the diocese of Syracuse teaching First Grade at St Thomas Aquinas in Binghamton, NY. After getting married she moved to Raleigh and began her teaching in the Diocese of Raleigh at St. Raphael in 1997. She was the school librarian at St. Raphael for a two years. After taking time off to start a family, she returned to teach at the preschool for a year and then began her time at the Elementary school in 2006 filling the roll as assistant teacher in first grade and has been in this roll since.
Mrs. Gasper has been a parishioner of St. Raphael since 1996 and is married to her husband, Greg. Their three children are, Meghan (class of 2012), Sarah (class of 2015) and Sam (class of 2016).

Mr Brown received his degrees in Biology and Education in Perth, Australia and has since worked as an educator, in both formal and informal situations for over 25 years. He has been fortunate to have lived in Australia, England, Tanzania, Macau, China and now currently in the United States, as well as visiting many other countries around the Globe. His passion is researching the connection between the environment our Spiritual life and the wisdom of indigenous peoples, as well as helping people reconnect to the earth in deeper ways.

Mrs. Jorgensen began teaching at Saint Raphael Catholic School in 2012. Since then, she has taught 6th grade Science and a “Hands on Science” elective for 7th and 8th graders. Mrs. Jorgensen runs the annual 5th and 6th grade Science Fair. She holds a North Carolina teaching license in Science Education for grades 6-12. Prior to moving to North Carolina, Mrs. Jorgensen taught high school biology and chemistry in Minnesota. She holds a Master’s Degree in Science Education from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Iowa State University.

Mrs. Longrie began teaching middle school Spanish at SRCS in 2011. She is a member of the Foreign Language Association of North Carolina and the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Spanish at UNC Chapel Hill and also holds an M.B.A. from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Spanish and a minor in Italian from Claremont McKenna College. Mrs. Longrie’s prior professional experience includes marketing of graduate educational programs for Duke University in Latin America. She has a passion for studying languages and a love for travel and has lived in Ecuador, Spain, Italy, France and New Zealand. She is licensed to teach K‐12 Spanish and English as a Second Language (ESL) in North Carolina.

Mr. McLeod and his family (wife, Caitlin, and son, Jack) have been living in the Triangle for 6 years. He comes to St. Raphael Catholic School as a new teacher and a new Catholic. After graduating from Duke Divinity School with a Master of Divinity in 2015, he worked for two years as the Assistant Rector at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Burlington, NC. Mr. McLeod was received and confirmed into the Catholic Church in February of 2018, and is now eager to put his foreign language skills and theological training to use for the students at SRCS.

Mrs. Adkins is originally from Coral Gables, FL where she taught English Language Arts (grades 5-8) at both Gulliver Academy and Saint Andrew's Academy. In 2009, she moved to Raleigh and started teaching middle school language arts at Saint Raphael. In addition to teaching, she also coaches the girl's volleyball team. She is a member of NCTE, Raleigh/ Wake Reading Association and the International Literacy Association. Mrs. Adkins is a certified reading specialist (K-12) and is certified to teach language arts in grades 6-12 through the state of North Carolina.

Mrs. Reilly teaches seventh and eighth grade language arts as well as 8.0 math. Mrs. Reilly originally joined the Saint Raphael staff in 2003 and taught here for 4 years. After moving back to Pennsylvania, where she taught middle school, she happily returned to Raleigh and Saint Raphael as a teacher and parishioner in 2012. Professionally, she is a member of The International Reading Association, the National Council of Teachers of English, and NC Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Mrs. Scanlin began teaching middle school math at Saint Raphael Catholic School in 2009. Her class schedule includes pre-algebra (7.1), math 1 (7.2/8.1) and math 2 (8.2). Prior to joining the SRCS staff, Mrs. Scanlin had experience in 5th through 8th grade in Texas, Panama, Virginia and North Carolina. Mr. Dapolito began teaching social studies at Saint Raphael in 2011 and was confirmed at Saint Raphael in 2014. He served as athletic director from 2012-2014 and has been the Dean of Students since 2015. Mr. Dapolito has coached lacrosse, basketball, and volleyball during his time at Saint Raphael and currently teaches 7th and 8th grade social studies.

Mrs. Stevens began teaching for the Diocese of Raleigh in 2007 and started teaching Saint Raphael Catholic School in 2010. Prior to becoming a teacher, she worked for Xerox Corporation for 10 years in various technology and management positions and was also a software trainer for Gateway Corporation. Mrs. Stevens made the switch to education in 2005 when she took a job on the technology team with the Chappaqua School District in Chappaqua, NY. In 2006, her family moved to Raleigh where she taught for four years at Saint Catherine of Siena in Wake Forest before coming to SRCS.

Mrs. Votta is the middle school resource teacher. She received her bachelors of arts degree in elementary and special education with a minor in business from Providence College. Upon graduating, Mrs. Votta taught at The Massachusetts Hospital School, where she served as a one-on-one aid for a student with cerebral palsy. She has also taught middle school math and science, as well as 4th grade. Mrs. Votta graduated in 2013 from North Carolina State University with her M.Ed. in curriculum design and instruction, with a specific focus in literacy. Prior to taking the resource position, Mrs. Votta served as the 4th grade teacher at SRCS. Beyond her professional life, she is the proud mother of three.

Carrie Griffith began her career as a counselor in a residential treatment center for children with emotional/behavioral disorders. Once her own children came along, she began working in school settings with primary-aged children, as both a teacher and as a program director. Moving to North Carolina, she spent 25 happy years as a teacher and then Director of St. Raphael Preschool. She was instrumental in bringing the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program to the Preschool; upon retirement from the directorship, she has been committed to expanding this rich faith formation program to the primary grades at Saint Raphael Catholic School.

Joseph Higley holds a BA in K-12 Physical Education and Health certification from Kean University. While teaching in Catholic schools in New Jersey, Mr. Higley also officiated track and field and basketball, helped to develop lessons and activities at the 21st Century community learning center, and coached soccer, volleyball, and basketball. Mr. Higley brings a wealth of expertise and enthusiasm to his classes.

Sra. Henderson has been the K-5 Spanish teacher since 2015, but first became affiliated with St Raphaels s a parent and long-time parishioner. She was added to the resource/student assistance team in 2018, specializing in strengths-based interventions and inclusion. Sra Henderson was born in Raleigh, but raised in Greenville, attending St. Peters Catholic School K-8. She returned to Raleigh and graduated from NC State University with degrees in Spanish Education and psychology, and has recently completed a Master's of Education at UNC-Chapel Hill. In addition to working at St. Raphael's, Sra. Henderson is a Developmental Therapist with the NC Infant/Toddler Early Intervention program. Her experiences include supporting families whose young children have diagnoses for autism spectrum disorder, attention inconsistency disorder, and language processing differences. Sra. Henderson lives in Raleigh with her husband James, daughter Hazel (class of 2022), and son JJ (class of 2025).

This is Mrs. Messina’s sixteenth year teaching art at St. Raphael Catholic School. She graduated from William Paterson University majoring in Art Education and Graphic Design. She has also taught advertising design at the Montclair Art Museum and New York University School of Continuing Education. Mrs. Messina has ten years experience in advertising as a Senior Art Director where she won a John Caples Award and a Direct Marketing Creative Guild Award for her design in advertising. Many art projects at SRCS reflect her design experience and love of art history. She and her husband, Michael, have three children. Mrs. Messina was the 2015 recipient of the Diocese of Raleigh Lewis Award which recognizes excellence in teaching.

Angela Santucci received her BA in Music from Northern Arizona University, where she studied with Paul Kiesgen, and her Master of Arts in Global Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Ms. Santucci taught theatre and private voice for thirteen years at Ravenscroft School, and 2010 she received the school’s highest teaching accolade, the Qubain Excellence in Teaching Award. She has performed with the North Carolina Master Chorale, North Carolina Opera, Seed Art Share, Delta Boys Theatre Company, City Ballet, and Burning Coal Theatre. She serves on the board of directors for Burning Coal Theatre and the North Carolina Master Chorale and is a member of the StageStruck board of trustees. Ms. Santucci maintains a private voice and piano studio and also conducts musicals and directs shows for local schools and theatre companies.

Mrs. Zagrobelny is the school librarian. She has been managing the school library program since 2008, where she combines technology skills with her love of reading. She holds a North Carolina teaching license specialization for School Media Centers. She is a member of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), a member of the NC School Library Media Association (NCSLMA), and a member of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
