SRCS Student Competes in State Geography Bee

The National Geographic Bee is an annual competition organized by the National Geographic Society, designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about the world. Students from 10,000 schools across the United States compete. The North Carolina was held last week in the Zeiss Building on the campus of Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte.

Briar made the school proud on Friday. He was one of a hundred 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students from all over the state of North Carolina to compete at the championship.

The 100 competitors were split into groups of 20. In those groups of 20 they competed to gain entry into the finals, which 10 students made.

Briar came one question short of making the finals, he was one of the last kids to come out of the preliminary competition classrooms.

Congratulations to our 6th grader Briar!
