Playing Time
Playing time will be earned based on skill, coachability, and participation in practice. The coach reserves the right to not play any player who has
not given satisfactory effort as expected by the coach. Coaches are expected to provide notice prior to student-athletes affected by this policy.
While it is understood that the student-athletes at SRCS have other activities away from the school, full participation in team-oriented events will be expected.
Failure to do so will result in reduced playing time. Every student-athlete who gives an honest effort in practices will play in games (JV or varsity). Playing time will be
divided as equally as possible at the JV level but will lean more toward the higher skilled players at the varsity level. Student-athletes could be moved during the season between
JV and varsity, at the coaches discretion. Coaches will be expected to discuss their decision with the student-athlete and their parents.
Per league guidelines, fifth graders will be able to participate in athletics at SRCS and will play in JV games only.
Coaches will determine how involved the fifth graders can be in their respective sport.
Any issues with playing time, either by player or parent, must be addressed directly with either the coach or the Athletic Director. If issues remain unresolved,
the principal must then be notified by the interested parties. All reported issues will remain confidential unless otherwise notified by the people registering the complaint. It is
strongly advised that all matters pertaining to the team stay between the team (coach, players, parents). Deviation from this principle will be extremely damaging to the program as a whole.
