Scrip is a term that means "substitute money". Tired of selling pizza, candy bars, and magazine subscriptions? Simply using Scrip can raise funds for SRCS and the St. Raphael ECC! When St. Raphael members purchase Scrip cards, they're purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash. The Scrip is issued by the national and local retailers where many of us already shop. These merchants want to support non-profit organizations, and in return ask you to support them by shopping with Scrip at their stores. We can use merchant specific Scrip gift cards to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, they earn revenue for us! How does Scrip generates revenue for SRCS? The SRCS Scrip administrators purchase large amounts of Scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the Scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. St. Raphael buys the Scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to us for full face value. The bulk of the discount - from two to eighteen percent or more - is retained by SRCS and the ECC as revenue. Scrip is "shopping cart fundraising”. The reason for the effectiveness of Scrip is simple: families generate revenue through purchases they would normally make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline cards can be purchased with Scrip. Last year, we made $18,000 from our St. Raphael Scrip program; the highest ever! We already made $1200 for the standing monthly orders (SMO) from July/August, and that was only with 2/3 of our regular SMOs participating! -- without spending an additional penny out-of-pocket. Retailers like Scrip, too. Families who purchase Scrip gift cards actively support the retailers who participate in this program. The reason is simple… they know that buying from a Scrip participating retailer provides a steady source of fundraising revenue for kids at St. Raphael schools. Where can I get SRCS/ECC Scrip cards? You can send in the order form presented in the weekly SRCS or ECC mailers, purchase cards in the carpool line from one of our Scrip administrators or online at www.saintraphael.org/scrip/scrip.html Is ordering online safe? ABSOLUTELY! We take NO money, NO check information and NO credit card information online. You will be contacted about payment information at later date. Your order, though, is processed immediately. How long does it take to get the cards? We have great number of gift cards already on-hand, and those that aren't are available in a couple of days.
