Mr. Mihalyo is in his fifth year at St. Raphael Catholic School as principal. Born and raised In Weirton, West Virginia, Mihalyo attended West Liberty State College where he earned a degree in Elementary Education (K-8) and a Minor in Social Sciences (grade 6-8). Over the course of his tenure, Principal Mihalyo taught at Hancock County Public School, Horizon FUTURA Center, and Sterling Middle School. He earned his Masters Degree from Shenandoah University and went on to be the interim Dean of Students at Sterling Middle School before becoming the Assistant Principal at Little River Elementary School and Dominion Trail Elementary School. In 2008, he became Principal of Madonna High School in Weirton, West Virginia. In 2012, Mihalyo accepted the position as Principal at St. Raphael Catholic School.

Originally from Northern Virginia, Nicole moved to North Carolina to pursue a B.A. in English with a minor in Pedagogy and Human Development from East Carolina University. While at ECU, she also achieved an M.A.T. in Secondary English Education. Her experiences in the classroom fueled her desire to pursue a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from N.C. State University; her work in this program largely focused on Literacy and Teacher Preparation.

Mr. Dapolito originally from New York where he attended Ithaca College. He earned a B.A. in Social Studies in 2008. He earned his Master of Science in Teaching from Elmira in 2011. He was hired by Saint Raphael Catholic School for the 2011-­12 school year and teaches 6th,7th and 8th grade social studies. He has coached basketball and lacrosse at St. Raphael Catholic School.

Mrs. Boretti graduated from Clarion University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She worked in corporate accounting for 8 years with US Foodservice, one of the United States leading foodservice distributors. While taking time away from corporate business to raise her 3 girls, she volunteered at her children’s school and family parish, Saint Catherine of Siena (Reading, PA). In 2013, she returned to the accounting field, working for The Berkshire Country Club. In June 2015, Mrs. Boretti and her family moved to Raleigh, NC, to support her husband’s work transfer. She and her family are currently parishioners at Saint Raphaels Catholic Church.

Mrs. Gerko is a graduate from Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she grew up, and received her Master’s in Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.  Since receiving her Masters, she has worked with children and families as a Program Coordinator in an adoption agency in Pittsburgh, a School-based Counselor in the Cleveland, Ohio public school system, a Foster Care Supervisor in Ohio and California, and a Medical Social Worker in California and North Carolina.  She and her family are currently parishioners at St. Raphael Catholic Church.

Mrs. Guarente is a graduate from the University of South Florida in Tampa, where she earned a B.A. in Mass Communications with a specialty in Public Relations. Since graduating, she has worked in broadcasting, political marketing, compiled the first matching gift directory for the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), taught preschool, and most recently, worked in the marketing department for a Catholic graduate school of psychology. In June 2013, Mrs. Guarente and her family moved to Raleigh from the Washington, D.C. area.

Mrs. Morgan holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and has worked in advertising and printing in both public and private industry. After six years as an SRCS kindergarten assistant, Mrs. Morgan returned to her field in the Marketing and Recruitment office. She has been a parishioner at Saint Raphael since 1999 and has two children, Sarah (Class of 2013) and Wills (Class of 2017).

Mrs. Pritchett studied Business Management at North Carolina State University. Her oldest daughter was in the second Kindergarten class at SRCS, and Mrs. Pritchett joined the office staff in 1998. Her daughters both graduated from St. Raphael Catholic School, in 2004 and 2008.

Mrs. Propes is originally from New York, where she was a secretary for Thomas J. Lipton and IBM. She has lived in North Carolina for 28 years, and she worked for the Wake County Public School System for seven years. Before that she worked from home doing medical transcription. She truly enjoys working here at Saint Raphael Catholic School!

Mrs. Rectenwald graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature in 1997. She continued her education at ECU and received her Master's of Business Administration in 1999. Mrs. Rectenwald has worked as a substitute teacher and helped coach the girls’ basketball and cross country teams at SRCS, she joined the staff in 2015. She and her husband have been parishioners of St. Raphael since 2007 and they have two daughters at SRCS, Samantha (Class of 2017) and Julia (Class of 2019). Go Guardians!

Mr. Mingus is a part time Computer Technician since 2012. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force and was discharged in 1970. After 40 years in telecommunications industry with two different companies, most of his experience is in Operations and Technical Support. He has branched out into a related field, Information Technology (IT), and has Comptia A+ and Network + certifications.

He also volunteers at United Way Teaming for Technology refurbishing used computers.

Mrs. Stevens started teaching for the Diocese of Raleigh in 2007. She started teaching St. Raphael Catholic School in 2010. She was certified by North Carolina State University in Middle Grades Math. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Fordham University in the Bronx, NY. Prior to becoming a teacher, she worked for Xerox Corporation for 10 years in various technology and management positions. She was also a software trainer for Gateway Corporation. She made the switch to education in 2005 when she took a job on the technology team with the Chappaqua School District in Chappaqua, NY. In 2006, her family moved to Raleigh, NC. Prior to St. Raphael, she taught for four years at St. Catherine of Siena in Wake Forest, NC.

Mrs. Drescher was born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y. and loves all things "Buffalo" including wings and the "Bills". Before directing the after school program she worked in interior design, which is why she loves to decorate her rooms. In after school, she gets to really know the children because she often has them from Kindergarten to Eigth grade. Several of the children she has taken care of have come back to work for her. Mrs. Drescher has three daughters and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Lane moved here from Chicago, Illinois eight years ago to be closer to her family. She has three children that are all now living in North Carolina. Mrs. Lane is a grandmother of four beautiful children between the ages of 1 to 5 years old. Mrs. Lane has worked at after school for eight years. She has learned that working with children is her calling in life and it is what she loves to do.

Mrs. Schumann graduated from Towson University in 1989 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. While attending college she also studied abroad at Bishop Grosseteste College in Lincoln, England. She began her teaching career in Baltimore County, Maryland where she taught third grade for two years and first grade for a year. She got married in 1992 and moved to Seminole County, Florida where she continued to teach first grade and then kindergarten until 1996. After taking some time off to begin her own family she returned to teaching in 2001 at Nativity Catholic School in Brandon, Florida. She taught Pre-Kindergarten for six years at Nativity before her family moved to Cary, NC in 2007. She spent one year teaching pre-school at Saint Andrew’s Early Childhood Center in Apex before starting at Saint Raphael. In the State of North Carolina she holds a professional license in Birth through Kindergarten and Elementary Education (Grades K-6). She has been teaching Kindergarten at Saint Raphael Catholic School since 2008.

Ms. Weaver graduated from East Carolina University, in Greenville, NC, with a degree in Elementary Education and Reading Specialist Certification. Upon graduation, she began working for Norfolk, VA Public Schools, where she taught Kindergarten. After 2 years she moved back to NC and taught Kindergarten, First and Second grades for Granville County Public Schools.  After several years off to stay home with her children, she taught at North Raleigh United Methodist Preschool. In 2002, she joined the staff of St. Raphael Catholic School as the Reading Resource teacher. In 2009 she moved back to the classroom to teach Kindergarten.

Mrs. Hamrick has been a teacher at St. Raphael for almost twenty years. She has watched the school grow from a small, single grade level school, to the wonderful school it is today. She graduated from Radford University in Virginia with a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education. She began her teaching career at a Catholic School in  Greensboro where she taught  Kindergarten for seven years. After moving to Raleigh with her family, she returned to teaching at SRCS where she has been happy to be in first grade.

Ms. Pallini grew up in Upstate New York and moved to North Carolina in 2001. When she started her college education, she was on the path to become a pharmacist. After working in a pharmacy and traveling to train other employees, she realized God had a different plan- she was meant to teach. She took classes while working full-time in the pharmacy and graduated from University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Ms. Pallini joined the SRCS staff in 2013.  She is looking forward to another wonderful year in first grade!

Mrs. Scully graduated from the University of Hartford, in Hartford, CT, with a degree in Elementary Education in 1992. The following year, she graduated from Boston College with a degree in Moderate Special Needs. Upon graduation, she began working with Wake County Public Schools, where she worked in Special Education, grades K-5 and a self-contained 4th grade class, for a total of 6 1/2 years. After several years off to stay home with her children, she taught Preschool at Millbrook Baptist Kindergarten. In 2007, she joined the staff of St. Raphael Catholic School.

Ms. Watson is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina and attended Catholic Schools from Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade. She graduated from Meredith College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology as well as receiving her K-6th Teaching Certification. She has served on the Young Alumnae Board at Meredith College for the last eight years. This will be Miss Watson's thirteenth year teaching Second Grade at St. Raphael Catholic School. She has the great privilege of helping her students prepare for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Miss Watson has a deep passion for Second Grade and each year brings a new and rewarding experience. She is happiest when working with her students and watching them succeed. Miss Watson is looking forward to another incredible year.

Mrs. Gaukel loves children! She is a mother of three young souls and has also taught for eight years, seven of them here at St. Raphael Catholic School teaching third grade. She was a Youth Minister at Christ the King Parish in Wisconsin working with middle and high school students and considers it an honor to be a positive, Catholic influence on our next generation. Growing up, she attended Catholic schools all of her life, and graduated from Marquette University with a double bachelors in Theology and Social Philosophy. Realizing that Catholic education was her calling, she later did extensive post- baccalaureate work at Edgewood College (also a Catholic institution) to earn numerous teaching certifications that enable to teach Elementary Education as well as Middle School Education in the subjects of Math, Science, LA, and SS in both Wisconsin and North Carolina.

Mrs. Dapolito joined SRCS in 2011. Before pursuing teaching, Mrs. Dapolito was on a different career path. She earned her undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. Quickly after graduating, she realized her heart was not in the job. After substitute teaching and serving as a teaching assistant in special education, she returned to Ithaca College and received a Masters of Science in Childhood Education. She became actively involved with her passions of education and working with children. Prior to her move to North Carolina, she was employed by Ithaca City School District. In addition, she was an assistant Irish dance teacher in Syracuse, New York. Her other education experiences include: volunteering at Harlem Promise Academy, mentoring refugees for the Karen Burmese Mentoring Project, and serving as an educator at the Science Center, a local science museum in Ithaca, New York.

Mrs. Hribar is a graduate of Northern Illinois University and received a Bachelor’s Degree and certification to teach special education with a concentration on students with Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorders. Mrs. Hribar worked in the Chicago area from 1986-1996 as a resource teacher for grades K-6, a self-contained teacher for grades 1-4, and as a resource teacher in a high school. In 2006, she completed course work at East Carolina University and was certified to teach elementary education. Mrs. Hribar has worked for the Diocese of Raleigh since August of 2006. While at Saint Raphael Catholic School, Mrs. Hribar has been involved in several committees including the Students’Assistance Team, the Catholic Schools Week Committee, the Mission and Vision Committee, Chairperson of a standard committee for school reaccreditation, and coordinator of the fifth grade safety patrol. Mrs. Hribar changed from teaching fifth grade to fourth grade in 2016.

Miss Rosinski comes to Saint Raphael with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Special Education from Immaculata University. Miss Rosinski also holds a Masters of Education Degree from North Carolina State University with a focus on New Literacies and Global Learning paired with a Reading Specialist Certification. While in Philadelphia, Miss Rosinski worked in a variety of classroom settings including behavior, learning support, neurologically impaired and general education before joining the Saint Raphael team in 2012. Miss Rosinski has worked on various committees at SRCS and loves teaching fourth grade!

Mrs. Brictson is a native of Denver, Colorado and a product of Catholic education from preschool through graduate school. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Diversified Liberal Arts and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of San Diego. She previously taught at Providence Day School in Charlotte and Cure of Ars Parish School in Leawood, Kansas. After many years at home raising her children (Ford--SRCS 2015, Katherine--SRCS 2020, and Will--SRCS 2020), she returned to the classroom as the assistant teacher in third grade for two years and now looks forward to teaching fifth grade.

Mrs. Rifenburg graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Radford University. She then went on to teach in the same county that she graduated high school from. Mrs. Rifenburg spent nine years teaching third and fifth grade in Loudoun County Virginia. She and her family moved to Raleigh in 2015 where she spent her tenth year teaching in Wake County. Mrs. Rifenburg is very excited to be a staff member at SRCS and is loving her fifth grade class!

Ms. Trickett is originally from Cleveland, Ohio where she attended Saint Albert the Great Catholic School. In 2007, her family relocated to Raleigh where she attended Saint Raphael's as an eighth grader. Ms. Trickett completed her high school career at Cardinal Gibbons High School. Following high school, she attended The University of North Carolina at Charlotte on an athletic scholarship to play soccer and earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology. Ms. Trickett is excited to be back at Saint Raphael's as a fifth grade teacher!

Having lived in Raleigh for 31 years Mrs. Colopy almost feels like a native. She knows she loves North Carolina beaches and mountains. Attending college in Ohio, she taught in Ohio, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Mrs. Colopy was the 2008 recipient of the Diocese of Raleigh Lewis Award which recognizes excellence in teaching. After retiring from a 19 year career at SRCS, she was trained in Wilson Reading and taught at All Saints Academy for a year. She has been trained in Direct Instruction and worked at Youngsville Academy. For the last three years she has tutored after school for The Hill Center of Durham using programs based on Orton-Gillingham instruction. Mrs. Colopy is excited to be back at St. Raphael helping teacher’s help their students be successful as a resource teacher.

Mrs. Palmer graduated from the University of Alabama with an Early Childhood/Elementary Education degree and then went on to get her Master's Degree in Reading from University of West Georgia. She taught elementary school for 10 years before taking a break to stay at home with her 3 children. She is now back in the classroom as the K-5 Resource Teacher.

Mrs. Koenig received her degree in Nursing in New Jersey, prior to relocating to North Carolina in 1997. After spending many fulfilling years working as a Registered Nurse, she decided to leave the hospital setting in order to stay at home with her three sons, Tyler (Class of 2008), Matthew (Class of 2019), and Tommy (Class of 2020). Some of her favorite moments have been spent volunteering in many different capacities at SRCS over the past 10 years. Mrs. Koenig joined the staff as a Teacher Assistant in Kindergarten in 2016. Mrs. Koenig feels truly blessed to be a part of our Kindergarten team!

Erin Lockhart holds a BA in English from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA. Her career in education  includes teaching a variety of levels of high school English in both Illinois and North Carolina, coaching track at a Catholic middle school, developing middle and high school pre-service  English teachers, and serving on a curriculum advisory board at Illinois State University. After resigning her positions to stay at home with her two daughters, both current SRCS students, she is excited to rejoin the classroom as the third grade assistant.

Mrs. Woods serves her second full year as a Teaching Assistant in kindergarten this year. She previously worked at the Saint Raphael after school program for 3 years responsible for K-3 age group and has spent a significant amount of time volunteering at Saint Raphael over the past 6 years. Mrs. Woods has a medical assistant's degree and has spent most of her adult life working with children in one capacity or another.

Mrs. Gasper is the first grade assistant to Mrs. Hamrick in 1A. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from College Misericordia (Dallas, PA) which is now Misericordia University. She also hold a minor in Early Childhood Ed. She has seven years teaching experience as a First Grade lead teacher in a parochial school in upstate NY, before moving to NC. Her teaching experience in NC has been mainly on the campus of St. Raphael. She started working in the library 15 years ago for two school years. She also has one year experience at the ECC with the four year old program. Her most recent has been an assistant in first grade for the past 9 years in the same position.

Laura Patterson was born and raised in Pennsylvania and attended the Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. The majority of her work experience is as a social worker in Child Protective Services. She has been a stay at home mother for the past several years and has two children, Josef and Gracie who attend St. Raphael.

Mrs. Powers graduated from Elizabethtown College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Business and a minor in Spanish. During her junior year of college, she studied abroad and attended the University of Barcelona. Mrs. Powers has spent the last 15 years at home with her children, Anna (SRCS Class of 2011), Jack, Sam and Nick, who all currently attend SRCS. She has spent many hours volunteering at the school and is so excited to be joining Mrs. Scully and SRCS team.

Mr Brown received his degrees in Biology and Education in Perth, Australia and has since worked as an educator, in both formal and informal situations for over 25 years. He has been fortunate to have lived in Australia, England, Tanzania, Macau, China and now currently in the United States, as well as visiting many other countries around the Globe. His passion is researching the connection between the environment our Spiritual life and the wisdom of indigenous peoples, as well as helping people reconnect to the earth in deeper ways.

Brendon Burns is a social studies teacher at Saint Raphael. This is his first year teaching. He was born in Pennsylvania and raised in Raleigh. Brendon attended Catholic School in the Raleigh area and attended Campbell University through their Army ROTC program. Brendon earned a bachelors in history and social sciences.

Mrs. Gutierrez is originally from Miami, FL and is really passionate about teaching. She is dedicated to developing a classroom environment that is stimulating, energetic and diverse to accommodate all learning styles. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exceptional Student Education (K-12) and holds endorsements in Reading and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) from Miami Dade College. Although she recently moved to North Carolina, Mrs. Gutierrez continues to be a loyal Miami Heat and Miami Dolphin fan!

Mrs. Jorgensen is excited about her third year as the 6th grade Science teacher at Saint Raphael Catholic School. She has a North Carolina teaching license in Science Education and was previously licensed in Minnesota where she taught high school Biology and Chemistry. Mrs. Longrie began teaching middle school Spanish at SRCS in 2011. She is a member of the Foreign Language Association of North Carolina and the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Spanish at UNC Chapel Hill and also holds an M.B.A. from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Spanish and a minor in Italian from Claremont McKenna College. Mrs. Longrie’s prior professional experience includes marketing of graduate educational programs for Duke University in Latin America. She has a passion for studying languages and a love for travel and has lived in Ecuador, Spain, Italy, France and New Zealand. She is licensed to teach K‐12 Spanish and English as a Second Language (ESL) in North Carolina.

Mr. Nevarez began teaching Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grade Religion at Saint Raphael’s Catholic School in 2016. He is a certified Master Catechist. He earned a Bachelor of Philosophy magna cum laude from the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum based in Rome, Italy. He spent time discerning a vocation to the priesthood and now resides in Raleigh, NC.

Ms. Polizzi began her career in Coral Gables, FL where she taught 6th Grade English and Writing Lab at Gulliver Academy. She then moved to Jensen Beach, FL to St. Andrew’s Academy where she taught 5th-8th grade Language Arts, supervised Yearbook, ran the Photography Club and was a Softball Coach. In 2009, Ms. Polizzi moved to Raleigh and began teaching 6th and 7th grade Middle School Language Arts at Saint Raphael Catholic School. She has her B.A. in English and a minor in Spanish from Appalachian State University. She will graduate with her M.A. in Reading from North Carolina State University in May 2017. Ms. Polizzi also is a member of the NCTE and has attended conferences in both Washington D.C. and Nashville TN.

Mrs. Reilly teaches eighth grade Language Arts, as well as seventh and eighth grade math. She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Villanova University and her Master of Arts in Teaching from The College of New Jersey. Mrs. Reilly originally joined the St. Raphael staff in 2003 and taught here for 4 years. After moving back to Pennsylvania, where she taught middle school, she happily returned to Raleigh and St. Raphael in 2012. Professionally, she is a member of The International Reading Association, the National Council of Teachers of English and NC Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Mrs. Scanlin began teaching middle school math at Saint Raphael Catholic School in 2009. Her class schedule includes pre-algebra (7.1), math 1 (7.2/8.1) and math 2 (8.2). Prior to joining the SRCS staff, Mrs. Scanlin had experience in 5th through 8th grade in Texas, Panama, Virginia and North Carolina. She graduated from Texas A&M with a BS in education with a specialization in math.

Mrs. Sarah Willis has been named the school's Latin teacher for the 2014-15 school year.  She is licensed to teach Latin in North Carolina and is a member of the American Classical League. She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Latin at UNC Chapel Hill in 2011, a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Classics from UNC in 2008, and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics with a minor in Classics at Wake Forest University in 2002.  Mrs. Willis' prior professional experience includes teaching Latin in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Public Schools, working as a paralegal in local law firms, and handling public affairs for the American Red Cross in Tucson, AZ.

Mr. Dapolito originally from New York where he attended Ithaca College. He earned a B.A. in Social Studies in 2008. He earned his Master of Science in Teaching from Elmira in 2011. He was hired by Saint Raphael Catholic School for the 2011-­12 school year and teaches 6th,7th and 8th grade social studies. He has coached basketball and lacrosse at St. Raphael Catholic School.

Mrs. Stevens started teaching for the Diocese of Raleigh in 2007. She started teaching St. Raphael Catholic School in 2010. She was certified by North Carolina State University in Middle Grades Math. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Fordham University in the Bronx, NY. Prior to becoming a teacher, she worked for Xerox Corporation for 10 years in various technology and management positions. She was also a software trainer for Gateway Corporation. She made the switch to education in 2005 when she took a job on the technology team with the Chappaqua School District in Chappaqua, NY. In 2006, her family moved to Raleigh, NC. Prior to St. Raphael, she taught for four years at St. Catherine of Siena in Wake Forest, NC.

Sra. Henderson is new to SRCS as a teacher, but she is a parent and long-time parishioner. Sra Henderson was born in Raleigh, but raised in Greenville, attending St. Peters Catholic School K-8. She returned to Raleigh and graduated from NC State University with degrees in Spanish Education and psychology, and is currently working on a Master's of Education at UNC-Chapel Hill. In addition to working at St. Raphaels, Sra. Henderson is a Developmental Therapist with the NC Infant/Toddler Early Intervention program. Sra.Henderson lives in Raleigh with her husband James, daughter Hazel, and son JJ.

Cindi Messina : Art Teacher

This is Mrs. Messina’s sixteenth year teaching art at St. Raphael Catholic School. She graduated from William Paterson University majoring in Art Education and Graphic Design. She has also taught advertising design at the Montclair Art Museum and New York University School of Continuing Education. Mrs. Messina has ten years experience in advertising as a Senior Art Director where she won a John Caples Award and a Direct Marketing Creative Guild Award for her design in advertising. Many art projects at SRCS reflect her design experience and love of art history. She and her husband, Michael, have three children. Mrs. Messina was the 2015 recipient of the Diocese of Raleigh Lewis Award which recognizes excellence in teaching.

Mrs. Russo has been teaching at St. Raphael's for nine years. Kelleigh moved to Raleigh from Atlanta, GA. She graduated from Kennesaw State University with a bachelors degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. She is very involved with St. Raphael’s parish as well, serving in past years on the parish council as well as many other ministries. She has many hobbies; cycling, volleyball, golf, working out and tennis as well as spending time with her family. She has coached basketball and is currently coaching high school volleyball. She is married with three children, all of whom attended or graduated from SRCS.

Angela Santucci received her BA in Music from Northern Arizona University, where she studied with Paul Kiesgen, and her Master of Arts in Global Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Ms. Santucci taught theatre and private voice for thirteen years at Ravenscroft School, and 2010 she received the school’s highest teaching accolade, the Qubain Excellence in Teaching Award. She has performed with the North Carolina Master Chorale, North Carolina Opera, Seed Art Share, Delta Boys Theatre Company, City Ballet, and Burning Coal Theatre. She serves on the board of directors for Burning Coal Theatre and the North Carolina Master Chorale and is a member of the StageStruck board of trustees. Ms. Santucci maintains a private voice and piano studio and also conducts musicals and directs shows for local schools and theatre companies.

Alejandro Tapia has been hired as our new physical education teacher for grades 5-8. Mr. Tapia has his B.A. in Elementary and Secondary Physical Education from University of Puerto Rico. Mr. Tapia has taught physical education for five years. We are very excited to have Mr. Tapia's energy and skills as part of our team!

Phyllis Zagrobelny : Librarian

Mrs. Zagrobelny is the school librarian. She has been managing our school library program since 2008. She has a bachelor degree in Applied Math and Computer Science from the University of Virginia School of Engineering and a master degree in Library Science, specialization School Media Centers, from North Carolina Central. In the past she has worked in software engineering. Now she combines her interest in technology with her love of reading. She holds a North Carolina teaching license specialization for School Media Centers.  She is a member of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), a member of the NC School Library Media Association (NCSLMA), and a member of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
